Made-to-Print Components

From Technical Design to Finished Component

FAMIT brings more than sixty years of precision-machining experience to the production of made-to-print components, transforming customers’ technical specifications into components manufactured using a modern fleet of CNC automatic lathes. Founded in Milan in 1960 as a small craft business specializing in turned small parts, the company has built a production culture based on attention to detail over time. This principle remains central to its operations today. Every project is approached with careful consideration of the technical information received, the component’s dimensional characteristics and production requirements. The experience gained over the decades enables FAMIT to manage different production needs starting from the technical documentation supplied by the customer. At the same time, the company’s growth has been accompanied by continuous updates to its equipment and technologies, with the aim of increasing flexibility and efficiency without losing the attention to detail that has characterized FAMIT since its beginnings.

Made-to-Print Components with CNC Automatic Lathes

Technology is fundamental to the production of made-to-print components, especially when precision, repeatability and production capacity must be integrated into a single process. At the Carbonate facility, in the province of Como, FAMIT operates in a 3,500 sq m building, 2,000 of which are covered. In recent years, the company has completed a major renewal of its machine fleet, replacing its former cam-operated machines with CNC sliding-headstock and fixed-headstock automatic lathes. The equipment includes machines from 4 to 10 axes, capable of machining diameters from 2 to 65 mm. This setup makes it possible to handle components with different dimensional and geometric characteristics, adapting the process to the project’s specific requirements. CNC technology also combines flexibility and efficiency—two aspects that have accompanied FAMIT’s production development and enable the company to respond to customers looking for a partner specialized in precision machining.

Made-to-Print Components and Production Capacity

One of the features that define FAMIT is its ability to combine experience, technology and significant production volumes. The current organization maintains an annual capacity of more than 30 million pieces. In the production of made-to-print components, this means relying on a modern machine fleet and a production process developed through more than sixty years in the turned small parts industry. The company’s history began in 1960 with the production of small components for the last Italian company that at the time manufactured wristwatch cases. This experience gave rise to the attention to detail that remains an integral part of FAMIT’s philosophy. Technologies, equipment and production capacity have changed over time, but the approach focused on caring for every individual component has remained unchanged. Today, this experience is combined with the capabilities of CNC sliding-headstock and fixed-headstock automatic lathes, enabling the company to handle different production requirements and transform the specifications in the technical drawing into components for the customer’s specific applications.
