Since 1960, FAMIT has developed expertise and technologies dedicated to
CNC machining, placing precision, attention to detail and the continuous development of production processes at the heart of its work. The company was founded in Milan as a small craft business producing turned small parts, initially for the last Italian company that at the time manufactured wristwatch cases. This was an activity in which attention to the smallest detail was an essential requirement and which helped define a production philosophy that has remained an integral part of the company’s identity. From that first experience, FAMIT embarked on a continuous growth journey, accompanied by the progressive modernization of its equipment and the introduction of increasingly advanced technologies. Today, more than sixty years of experience are combined with a modern machine fleet made up exclusively of CNC automatic lathes, enabling the company to manage different production and dimensional requirements. This important technological transformation has increased flexibility and efficiency while preserving attention to the individual component and its specific production requirements.
CNC Machining with Automatic Lathes
The CNC machining is carried out at FAMIT’s Carbonate facility, in the province of Como, a site covering 3,500 sq m in total, 2,000 of which are covered. In recent years, the company has carried out a major technological renewal, replacing all its former cam-operated machines with CNC sliding-headstock and fixed-headstock automatic lathes. The machine fleet now includes solutions from 4 to 10 axes, capable of machining diameters from 2 to 65 mm. This setup makes it possible to handle different production requirements by leveraging the capabilities of modern CNC turning technologies. The availability of multiple axes and different configurations allows the process to be adapted to the characteristics of the components to be manufactured, with the aim of combining precision, repeatability and optimized machining. The transition from traditional machines to a fleet made up exclusively of CNC automatic lathes represents a significant step in FAMIT’s growth: a technological investment aimed at improving production performance and responding more flexibly to customer needs.

CNC machining while maintaining an annual production capacity of more than 30 million pieces. This significant volume is supported by a modern machine fleet and more than six decades of experience in turned small parts. The ability to machine diameters from 2 to 65 mm using 4- to 10-axis sliding-headstock and fixed-headstock automatic lathes enables us to handle productions with different characteristics while keeping the required technical specifications at the center of the process. Equipment development has not changed one of the fundamental principles of the company’s philosophy: attention to detail. From the small craft workshop founded in 1960 to today’s facility in Carbonate, FAMIT has progressively developed its structure by integrating new technologies and improving process efficiency. The goal is to provide customers with a production organization capable of combining experience, CNC technology and significant production volumes, while preserving the attention to detail that has guided the company since its beginnings.
