FAMIT’s growth has been accompanied by the ongoing modernization of its equipment and production technologies, with the aim of progressively improving flexibility and efficiency. Today, the turned small-parts production takes place at the Carbonate facility, in the province of Como, in a 3,500 sq m building, 2,000 of which are covered. In recent years, the company has completed a major renewal of its machine fleet, replacing its former cam-operated machines with CNC sliding-headstock and fixed-headstock automatic lathes. The production department has machines ranging from 4 to 10 axes, capable of machining diameters from 2 to 65 mm. This setup enables FAMIT to handle the production of turned small parts with a high degree of flexibility, meeting both requirements related to component geometry and the need to optimize production processes. CNC automatic lathes also combine precision, repeatability and efficiency—particularly important when producing large quantities of components while maintaining the required standards. Technological development has not changed the principle that has guided FAMIT since its beginnings: giving the utmost attention to detail.
